TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Florida say a man accused of killing his ex-wife's parents and brother did it after they began to suspect that he had also killed her.
The Tampa Bay Times cites court records that show Shelby Nealy bludgeoned Richard and Laura Ivancic and their adult son Nicholas with a hammer before Christmas in their home in Tarpon Springs.
Their bodies were found New Year's Day. Nealy was arrested in Lakewood, Ohio, Jan. 3 and extradited to Florida on Saturday. He faces three counts of first-degree murder.
Nealy hasn't yet been charged in the death of Jamie Ivancic. Authorities believe Nealy killed her in January 2018 and then used her phone to send texts and photos of the couple's two young children to fool her family. Investigators say her parents were getting suspicious because they hadn't talked to her.
