UPDATE: Police now say the woman was not abducted but left of her own free will.

EARLIER:

A woman who was last seen purchasing items at a Publix grocery store in Pembroke Pines has been reported missing, and police are investigating her disappearance as an abduction.

Demaris Saavedra Rodriguez, 43, left her home to purchase items at the Publix in the Shops of Silver Lakes, located at 18341 Pines Boulevard, Monday night.

When she did not return home, her family notified police.

Pembroke Pines Police arrived at the Publix just after midnight to find Rodriguez' locked vehicle containing her groceries, but Rodriguez was nowhere to be seen.

She was seen on the store's surveillance cameras entering the parking lot shortly after 10 p.m. Police believe Rodriguez is in the company of Luis Carvajal, a family friend, and are investigating the case as an abduction.

The two may be traveling in a gray, 2015 Dodge Caravan with a Florida tag DIZX14. It is not known where they might be headed.

Rodriguez is described as a white, Hispanic female 5-feet 3-inches and 110-pounds. She has a thin, slim build, brown eyes and long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black tank top, dark blue jean pants, and tennis shoes with heels.

Carvajal is described as a 48-year-old white, Hispanic male. He is 6-feet tall and weighs 200-pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pembroke Pines Police at (954) 431-2200, or Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
