FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Broward County burglary detectives searched for a one-handed man — and say they found him.

The sheriff's office reports that 35-year-old Joel Hooten turned himself in Tuesday after seeing a news release describing the one-handed burglar who broke into a regional courthouse Sunday by smashing a glass door with a bat.

Detectives say the burglar was videotaped going into several offices but didn't take anything.

Hooten told detectives he is a painter and had been assigned to work at the courthouse Sunday. Detectives say that's not true.

He is charged with armed burglary of an unoccupied building and was being held on $15,000 bond.
