Police are investigating after an eight-month-old girl was killed by a dog at a home in Miramar Wednesday.
Officers responded to the home in the 2400 block of Kingston Drive around 11:30 a.m., officials said. Footage showed several officers at the scene and the street blocked off with police tape.
Miramar Police officials said the girl was being cared for by her grandmother at the time of the attack.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim or the breed of the dog.
"At this point, it's an active investigation. It's unknown what the outcome will be of that investigation but we have detectives on scene," Miramar Police Officer Yessenia Diaz said.
Broward County Animal Services responded to the home to assist in the investigation. There were two other dogs in the home that weren't involved in the attack.
