WESTON, Fla.-- A large South Florida home is a total loss after a two-alarm fire Monday night.
It was just after 9:30 when fire crews arrived to the 6,000 square foot home located in the upscale neighborhood of Weston Hills.
Officials say the home was undergoing renovations and was surrounded by construction equipment.
When firefighters arrived they were met with extremely heavy fire which had already burned through much of the roof.
Strong winds fed the fire and the large, expansive area made it increasingly difficult to fight. A second alarm was called which brought more firefighters to the scene.
Approximately 50 firefighters fought to bring the fire under control around 10:30.
Fire officials returned to the scene Tuesday and began combing through the burned-out structure.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.
