The Florida Department of Transportation plans to reinstitute late fees at the end of June.
According to Florida Politics, drivers will get one more warning by mail or email before their next bill includes the administrative late fees. Drivers were supposed to have paid their outstanding balances by June 1st.
The penalties will affect those drivers who have not paid of their backlogged SunPass bills.
A few months ago a scandal caused millions of SunPass accounts to get backlogged leaving customers surprised by months of toll bills at once.
According to FDOT, drivers will still be able to renew their vehicle registration regardless of their SunPass account balance.
