A Florida family came almost within arm's length of the ocean's most feared predator, and they took out the cellphone so no one could doubt their fish tale.
The Rose family has a video to prove their encounter with a 12-foot long great white shark They were fishing a few miles offshore of Port Canaveral Saturday when they spotted it.
CharlieRosee is an experienced fisherman and he's teaching his daughter, Carlie, all the tricks of the trade.
And her reaction to this experience shows she was far too excited to be frightened. "It was so big, and I was like, 'OK, this is gonna be something to video.'"
"As we approached it, we realized it was a shark. All of a sudden, we all got excited and realized it was a great white shark," said her father Charlie.
"It just came up to the boat, and I was like, 'Oh, my goodness, it is,'" said Carlie.
Rose says most sharks he sees swim away. But this one stayed awhile and seemed interested. The people on the dry side of the water's surface say they were interested as well as long as they were at a safe distance.
