Florida Gov. Rick Scott questioned about gun control

Posted

(CNN NEWSOURCE) In the aftermath of the Orlando nightclub shooting Florida Governor Rick Scott says gun control is a conversation that he's willing to have but he says the main focus should be on defeating ISIS.

He spoke with CNN's Pamela Brown:

“Nobody would think that anybody on a terrorist watch list should have a gun, right? That should…we all can agree that we don't want somebody who's going to do that walking around with any weapons. But the Second Amendment didn't kill anybody. This is ISIS. This is evil. This is radical Islam. I'm tired what's going on in our country; we're not focused enough on ISIS.  We had a journalist beheaded in 2104 he was from Miami and now we had 40 people slaughtered right here. When are we gonna’ say to ourselves as a country, ‘enough's enough.’ Let's focus on destroying ISIS when we find information about somebody coming into our country, if we're not comfortable with you coming into our country, that's just our country. Why are you coming here?  And if we do vet someone and let them in, why won't we share that with our local law enforcement so if we feel like we need to, because we're responsible for public safety in our states. We're fortunately at a 45 year low crime rate but I don't want anything like this to happen ever again, to any citizen.”

Friday at least nine of the 49 victims will be remembered at funeral services.
