FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — A Florida Highway Patrol trooper is dead after suffering a heart attack during a training exercise.
The agency says 56-year-old Master Sgt. Daniel Hinton died Tuesday after being taken to a Fort Myers hospital.
Hinton was based in Fort Myers and was working in the commercial vehicle enforcement office. He had previously worked in training and in crime interdiction.
He had served with the FHP for 32 years.
