HUDSON, Fla. (AP) — Police are searching for a man who they say attempted to hit a deputy with his car.
Multiple news outlets report 26-year-old J'Rokton Williams is wanted on a charge of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer after authorities say he put his vehicle in reverse and accelerated toward a deputy Saturday in Hudson.
Officials say the incident began after deputies attempted to take Williams into custody Saturday night on an unrelated warrant. Two deputies approached his vehicle, but Williams accelerated his car toward the authorities before speeding away.
Pasco County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Melanie Snow says one deputy fired his weapon toward the car to disable it, but Williams eluded capture.
Deputies are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers.
