Florida man faces felony littering charge

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) -- A central Florida man is facing felony littering charges after a contracting firm hired by Seminole County spent nine hours cleaning more than 31 tons of trash from his home.

Seminole County Sheriff's deputies arrested Alan Davis Wednesday.

The Orlando Sentinel reports Davis spent years fighting with officials over piles of debris in his yard. In September, crews removed refrigerators, concrete chunks, glass, lawn furniture and tires.

The intervention was ordered after a special magistrate decided the junk created a health and safety concern for the neighborhood. They asked Davis to clean the yard multiple times. He refused.

The State Attorney's Office filed felony littering charges.

Davis has insisted that he can do what he wants with his home and yard. It's unclear whether Davis has an attorney.
