ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a suspect who robbed a dollar store and shot an employee hid in the bushes for eight hours trying to elude police.
St. Petersburg police say 29-year-old Terrian Knight robbed the store Tuesday night and shot an employee there before fleeing.
Authorities asked nearby residents to remain indoors and asked others to avoid the area as they searched for Knight with K-9 dogs, SWAT officers and a helicopter. Police say they kept Knight contained in the area overnight until he surrendered in a retention pond.
The Tampa Bay Times reports he is charged with attempted homicide and armed robbery.
The shooting victim was not identified, but police say they were released from the hospital.
