CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — An inmate has been found dead in a Florida jail, but authorities say they do not suspect foul play.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports that 26-year-old Ignus Stephen was found unresponsive in his bunk in the middle of the night Wednesday. Detectives say other inmates attempted to wake Stephen and notified the detention staff when they did not get a response.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives say there were no obvious signs of injuries, and the death does not appear to be suspicious. Investigators say Stephen has a documented medical history with the jail, but no other details were released.
The Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
