Knife-wielding man fatally shot by deputies in Broward County

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- The Broward County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal deputy-involved shooting that happened Friday night in Pompano Beach.

Deputies were dispatched to 320 NW 14 Street regarding a domestic disturbance call involving a man with a knife at 10 p.m. Friday.

When they arrived, deputies were directed to the back yard, where they encountered a man who produced a knife. BSO says both deputies discharged their weapons. Per BSO policy, they have been placed on administrative leave.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Investigators spent Friday night into Saturday morning documenting the scene, collecting evidence, and speaking with local residents and taking statements.
