MIAMI — A reality television star has been hired as the first female high school football head coach in Florida history.
The Miami Herald reports that Miami Jackson High School announced Lakatriona Brunson as the Generals’ new coach Monday.
Brunson has gained notoriety in recent years on the reality series “South Beach Tow.”
The physical education teacher attended Miami Northwestern in the early 1990s. She was a track and field athlete and basketball standout, and went on to play basketball for Tennessee State.
Brunson also played for the Miami Fury women’s football team more than a decade ago.
Also Monday, Miami Jackson named recording artist Luke Campbell as the football team’s defensive coordinator. The former 2 Live Crew front man has previously run defenses at Miami Central, Miami Northwestern and Miami Norland.
