POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A Polk County Sheriff's Office helicopter and a gyroplane are both down in a field after separate crash landings in Ft. Meade on Thursday afternoon.

Aerial footage from our news partners at WFTS shows the sheriff's office helicopter on its side.

According to PCSO, authorities are on a rescue mission and coordinating with other agencies to retrieve two pilots from two aircraft, both of which had hard landings.

The first is a gyropcopter that reportedly went down on Mosaic property, nearest cross street County Line Rd. E., near Manley Rd.

While the PCSO helicopter was above that scene, it went down and had a hard landing.

Both pilots are together on the ground and both are OK.

Authorities say the area is extremely rural, wet, and mucky. They are trying to rescue the pilots with assistance from several other agencies.
