A man has been arrested after deputies say he stole more than 300 vases from a Seminole County cemetery.
Local media outlets report that 34-year-old Robert Jacobsen was arrested Tuesday. He faces charges of grand theft and injuring or removing a tomb or monument.
Seminole County sheriff's spokeswoman Kristen Bentsen says the investigation began when a person visiting the Highland Memory Gardens near Apopka reported their loved one's bronze flower vase was missing in November.
Further investigation revealed that hundreds of other vases were missing from the cemetery.
Deputies say a scrap metal dealer contacted them after Jacobsen tried to sell several vases.
Deputies say the investigation determined Jacobsen had stolen 335 vases, worth $60,000, and sold them to Orlando area scrap metal dealers between November and December.
