An 80-year-old man is dead and a woman is recovering after police say the man shot the woman in the lobby of a hospital in Coral Gables before turning the gun on himself.
NBC 6 reports that the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at Kindred Hospital South Florida, located at 5190 Southwest Eighth Street in Coral Gables.
According to police, the man had a phone conversation with the woman and asked her to come to the hospital. The victim arrived at the hospital, and at some point began to walk away from the man. The man then produced a gun and reportedly shot the victim multiple times before turning the gun on himself.
The man died. The woman was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and it expected to survive, according to police.
Witnesses did not report hearing an argument between the subject and the victim, and police say there is no evidence of an altercation between the two.
