MIAMI (AP) -- Authorities say a Miami police motorcycle patrolman is dead and two other people are critically injured following a multi-vehicle crash.
The Miami Herald reports that the crash occurred Tuesday afternoon.
Police have identified the officer as Jorge Sanchez, a department veteran less a year from retirement.
Florida Highway Patrol was working to determine the cause of the crash, which involved Sanchez's motorcycle and four cars.
A total of 12 people were involved, with the two critically injured people being transported to a nearby hospital, and seven others being treated at the scene.
