MARATHON, Fla. — A coven of costumed witches and warlocks celebrated the October full moon in offbeat Florida Keys style by staging the Full Moon Witches’ Paddle late Sunday afternoon.

Nearly two dozen people participated in the paddle off the coast of Marathon.
The coven set off into the sunset from Crane Point Museum and Nature Center, making bayside stops at Banana Bay Resort & Marina before ending at the Middle Keys' iconic Faro Blanco Resort lighthouse.
Florida Keys resident Karen Thurman created the Witches' Paddle after proposing the idea to friends on Facebook.
