Parkland parents fight to keep Scott Israel from becoming sheriff again

PARKLAND, Fla. — The families of the victims of the Parkland shooting joined together Monday to keep Broward County's former sheriff out of office.

Each of the families who spoke lost a child in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14, 2018.

Sheriff Scott Israel was removed from office and replaced earlier this year by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Monday's opposition comes as the Florida Senate prepares to vote on whether to reinstate Sheriff Israel following the recommendations of a special investigation.
