DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. (AP) — A woman is facing charges after a man was fatally stabbed at a Daytona Beach Shores hotel during an attempted robbery that started with an online ad.

News outlets report 31-year-old Amy Stefani of New Smyrna Beach was arrested Saturday on second-degree murder and armed robbery charges after police found 32-year-old Steven Clark stabbed in the chest at the Lexington Inn & Suites.

Investigators say Clark accompanied Stefani to the hotel, where she had arranged to meet Alfonso Echevarria through an ad on Backpage.com.

Police say Stefani robbed Echevarria at knifepoint inside a room, but he was able to disarm her. She fled and Clark entered the room, attacking Echevarria, who used Stefani's knife to stab Clark.

Lt. Michael Fowler says Echevarria won't be charged because he acted in self-defense.
