DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Police say a 72-year-old man apparently suffered a heart attack, fell off his houseboat and drifted in the Halifax River before his bracelet snagged on a crab trap.
Daytona Beach police Chief Mike Chitwood says a commercial fisherman checking the trap found the man's body on Monday. Investigators are still trying to locate the man's relatives.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the man lived with his cat on the houseboat. Authorities visited the boat on Tuesday and removed the cat.
Investigators say the man had been in the water less than 24 hours.
