MIAMI (AP) -- Police say a man had died after he shot himself while cleaning his gun.
Det. Marjorie Eloi of the Miami-Dade Police Department tells media outlets 43-year-old Josmel Herrera accidentally shot himself in the chest Tuesday night.
She says the incident occurred while Herrera was explaining the proper way to clean his gun during a video call with a family member.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene after reports of a shooting inside the home.
Paramedics performed emergency care and took Herrera to Kendall Regional Trauma Center, where he died.
No further details were released. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
