President Obama signs Florida emergency declaration

President Obama has declared an emergency exists in the State of Florida and ordered federal aid to supplement state, tribal, and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions from Hurricane Matthew, beginning on October 3, 2016.

The action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate disaster relief efforts in the counties of Baker, Brevard, Broward, Citrus, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Glades, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Indian River, Lake, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Nassau, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Polk, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, and Volusia.

FEMA is authorized to provide and mobilize equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.
