NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (AP) - A North Miami school district official says two middle schoolers have been arrested for bringing an unloaded handgun and BB gun to campus.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools spokeswoman Jackie Calzadilla told news outlets that the Benjamin Franklin K-8 Center principal saw students at a park next door to the school rummaging through their backpacks on Monday morning.
Hallman asked campus police to search the students before class and officers discovered the weapons.
Calzadilla said one of the students had tried to stash the BB gun somewhere on campus before being caught.
The two were charged with undisclosed felonies.
