A Miami Beach teacher is facing multiple child abuse charges after she was caught on camera hitting young children at Lincoln Marti School, police said.
Clara Luz Quintero-Gonzalez, 54, was arrested Thursday on charges of child abuse with no great bodily injury, aggravated child abuse and child neglect with no great bodily harm, according to Miami Beach Police
arrest reports.
Quintero-Gonzalez had bond set at $30,000 but was being held on a warrant, jail records showed. It's unknown if she's hired an attorney.
According to the arrest reports, Quintero-Gonzalez was caught on school surveillance striking, slapping and grabbing 2 and 3-year-old children. In one instance, she hit a 2-year-old child with a closed right fist on the arm, then hit the child using a karate chop, the reports said.
Quintero-Gonzalez denied hitting the children even after seeing the videos, saying it was "nothing" in Spanish, the reports said. School policy doesn't permit striking a child, the reports said.
