(WESH/NBC) - Newly-released video shows the moment a man stole a Florida Highway Patrol trooper's patrol car earlier this month, leading officers on a chase that reached speeds of up to 150 mph.

Shane Jensen, 22, is accused of stealing a Florida Highway Patrol trooper's car on May 2.

This newly-released video shows the dramatic chase on the Turnpike.

It started with a trooper noticing a shirtless man, who appeared to need medical help, on the side of the road.

The trooper talks to him for a few minutes and then goes to speak to a road ranger.

Suddenly, Jensen saw an opportunity, jumped into the driver's seat and speed away.

About 10 minutes later, troopers set a roadblock, stifling traffic.

Stuck in gridlock, three law enforcement officers approached the stolen cruiser with guns drawn.

One tries opening the passenger-side door and Jensen accelerates through the road shoulder to escape.

He comes across the roadblock and makes a u-turn.

Dashboard cameras show the alleged car thief weaving through traffic at 120 miles per hour while troopers chase him from behind. At one point, he hits 149 mph.

The accused thief regained control and about a minute later, Jensen drove the cruiser over a stop strip and swerved to a stop.

He then jumped out, hopped a median and ran through oncoming traffic and into the woods.

Troopers say they eventually caught Jensen in that wooded area.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.
