PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- The nearly 58,000 servicemen and women who died during the Vietnam war were honored with a permanent memorial in southwestern Florida.
A replica of the famed Vietnam wall was dedicated during a ceremony in Punta Gorda Saturday.
The city is now home to one of seven replicas of the structure in the world.
Hundreds marched during a walk honoring the veterans during the dedication ceremony.
The $600,000 wall took three years of fundraising and nine months to build.
It is exactly half the size of the one in Washington D.C.
