Wild police pursuit in Central Florida ends in arrest

Posted

THE VILLAGES, Fla. -- A suspected armed robber barricaded himself in a home in Central Florida for hours Tuesday before he fled the house and led deputies on a wild high-speed chase.

Sumter County deputies said at around one Tuesday morning, a manager of a country club in The Villages reported that he was approached by a man with a gun.

The manager got into an altercation with the armed suspect, who he identified as Brian Davis, an employee at a different country club.

Deputies said Davis then fled to a home in the Village of La Belle and barricaded himself inside.

After an hours-long standoff, Davis fled in a white SUV, speeding through streets and eventually down a dirt road, where deputies tried to stop him with a pit maneuver.

Davis continued,  busting through fences and driving through fields until he was eventually surrounded by deputies and taken into custody.
