Posted

NAVARRE BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a woman was hospitalized after being stung by a stingray at a Florida beach.

The Pensacola News Journal reports that the 18-year-old woman suffered a puncture to her foot Tuesday at Navarre Beach.

Santa Rosa County officials say the woman was treated at the scene and then taken to a Fort Walton Beach hospital. Authorities didn't know what she was doing right before the injury.

Officials say stingray attacks aren't common, but swimmers should be aware of all marine life.
