'Suspicious death': Woman found on side of roadway near Vero Beach

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating a suspicious death.

The discovery was made Wednesday at around 2:26 p.m. on the 6100 block of 65th Street near Vero Beach.

Deputies said a woman was found dead on the side of a road.

A cause of death is still being investigated.

WPTV's Ethan Stein spoke with resident Debbie Votzi, who said the road was blocked and there were lots of cop cars earlier.

"It's really scary because a lot of us women, we walk this road," she said. "So it's scary now to think there was somebody out."

Deputies said they also to another death investigation on Wednesday. This one involved Kevin Markey, who was reported missing several days earlier, deputies said in a post on Facebook. The said the incident is under investigation, however, foul play is not suspected.
