PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Port St. Lucie police said Thursday they have identified a man who hadn't been to work in a few days and was found dead inside his home "with obvious signs of violent trauma to his body."

In a Facebook post at about 11 a.m., the Port St. Lucie Police Department said the incident was unfolding in the 1000 block of Southeast Albatross Ave.

WPTV reporter Romelo Styles spoke to Port St. Lucie Police Chief Richard Del Toro at the scene who said the man's job called the police department for a welfare check after he hadn't shown up for work in a few days.

The man has been identified as 67-year-old Francis Devon Gennace, Port St. Lucie police said in a news release.

Officers arrived at the Gennace's home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and found him dead inside "with obvious signs of violent trauma to his body."

Del Toro said Gennace did not live alone.
