Man accused of threatening FHP trooper with bomb at Racetrac, fleeing to Wawa in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — According to Port St. Lucie Police (PSLPD), one man is in custody facing multiple charges after an incident Sunday morning.

At around 6:45 a.m., PSLPD was notified by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) that they received a call from a man in a black Jeep claiming to have a bomb and needing gas.

The subject, 39-year-old Jeremy Wooster, proceeded to exit I-95 and drove to the Racetrac on Gatlin Boulevard, getting the attention of an FHP Trooper who was coincidentally there getting fuel.

"He stated words to the effect the Trooper better back up because he had a gun and a bomb," PSLPD said in a statement.

Wooster then drove to the Wawa on Tradition Parkway.

Then, officers and troopers at the Wawa were attempting to block the subject from driving away again, Wooster deliberately rammed the occupied law enforcement vehicles.

Police successfully immobilized Wooster's vehicle and was taken into custody by SWAT officers.

A search of the vehicle did not reveal any explosives or weapons, but a further inquiry revealed the vehicle was stolen from Palm Beach County.

No one was injured during this incident.

Wooster has been charged with multiple counts of the following:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Aggravated Battery
  • Felony Criminal Mischief,
  • Fleeing and Eluding
  • False report concerning planting a bomb, explosive or a weapon of mass destruction, or concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner
  • Grand Theft Auto
