FORT PIERCE, Fla. — One man is being treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound after a deputy-involved shooting Wednesday night in Fort Pierce, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook.

The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. off Indrio Road at Indian Pines Village condominiums, a subdivision in Lakewood Park.

Investigators say the suspect was armed at the time of the incident.

No deputies were injured and there is no danger to the public, the sheriff's office said.

No other details were available.

WPTV reporter Ethan Stein spoke with neighbors, who described the community as quiet. One man said he heard yelling before a gunshot.
