Australian baby weighs in at more than 13 lbs.

(Seven Network/CNN) - Like any expecting parent, Breanna Sykes had plenty of newborn clothes at the ready, but she won't be using any of them.

Looking at her newborn, Ziad, next to another baby born the same day, it's easy to see why. Ziad is giant. He was born weighing more than 13 pounds.

Ziad was born the size of a 3-month-old and at 57 centimeters - about 22 and 1/2 inches - he was off the scale used by the maternity ward.

Both Sykes, 18, and the baby's father were large babies. She had planned for a natural birth, but when doctors discovered how big Ziad was, those plans changed.

"They did an internal examination and they said it's just not going to fit," Sykes said. "If I try and push the baby, it would break my pelvis."

He did break records, though. He was the largest baby born at that medical center in 15 years and one of the largest babies born on record in Western Australia.

Doctors say the baby is healthy and both he and Sykes are doing well.
