The Coast Guard rescued 10 people from a 30-foot vessel that was taking on water southwest of Freeport, Bahamas, Saturday, according to a news release.

The vessel reportedly capsized around 4 a.m.

The overturned vessel was located at approximately 12 p.m.  The 10 people on board were safely rescued and transported to the Royal Bahamas Defense Force in Freeport with no reported medical conditions, said Coast Guard officials.

The 10 survivors are believed to be migrants trying to get to the United States from the Bahamas.

"The Coast Guard strongly discourages attempts to illegally enter the country by taking to the sea. These trips are incredibly dangerous, " said the news release.
