Panda keepers at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in southwest China are using ice to help the globally-treasured animal to cool off from the summer heat.
With the area's scorching summer heat already here, staff members at the base have made several adjustments to help keep the giant pandas cool and comfortable.
Ice cubes and fruits are now offered as a relief from the summer heat, in addition to their normal diet of bamboo shoots.
Staff members will also continuously monitor the temperature during the day, and depending on how hot it is, the pandas will either be left outside to play in the shade and cool down in a little pond in their enclosure, or be called back inside by the keepers.
