Pancake ‘cereal’ Is The New Breakfast Trend People Are Loving While They’re Stuck At Home

Posted
and last updated

Instead of going out to eat or making a grocery store run, people are making meals at home. While some are upping their game by taking online cooking classes, others are looking at what’s in their pantries and finding creative ways to use what they have. The latter has produced some fun and tasty food trends, including the latest breakfasty treat: pancake cereal.

We’re not sure who came up with the idea, but it is taking social media by storm. And actually, pancake cereal is a misnomer. The dish is actually a large batch of minuscule pancakes cooked up and eaten out of a bowl.

How To Make Pancake Cereal

There is no real secret to whipping up this comforting meal (or snack!). Simply prepare your favorite pancake recipe, but instead of dropping large dollops onto your pan or griddle, pour the batter into a squeeze bottle (think an empty, clean, squirtable ketchup container) or even a zip-top baggie with a tiny corner cut out.

Squeeze tiny pancakes onto the hot, greased surface, cook until they begin to bubble and then flip them. Cook both sides until they are golden brown.

You can serve the “cereal” in a bowl with a pat of butter and your favorite syrup, but the ways to enjoy this treat are limited only by your imagination. Here, you can see three different and easy ways of serving up pancake cereal from @hastingskitchen.

A Pleasant Pancake Replacement

If flapjacks just aren’t your thing, you might make waffle cereal instead. Shay and Steph of SoFloFooodie put their waffle iron to work to make bowls of sweet, fluffy waffle bites.

“Idk about you but I always prefer waffles over pancakes,” they posted.

🧇WAFFLE CEREAL 🥣⁣ ⁣ So you’ve seen the #pancakecereal trend and now we’ve leveled up and created #wafflecereal instead. Idk about you but I always prefer waffles over pancakes 🥞! ⁣ ⁣ 💕Here’s what to do:⁣ ⁣ Make your waffle batter and put it into an icing or Ziplock bag. ⁣ Pour the batter over small spaces in the waffle maker (see video).⁣ I cooked on both sides for an even cook because my maker is a little old 😂 (you can choose to decorate like we did but that’s completely optional).⁣ Put them in a bowl with butter and syrup 🧈⁣ ⁣ That’s it, super easy…let us know what you think 😍⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ ⁣#waffles #wafflemaker #sprinkles #babypancakes #babywaffles #wafflemaker #icing #instagood #instaeat #eeeeeats #buzzfeast #satisfeed #foodgawker #tiktok #tiktokfood #tiktokviral #viralvideo #forkfeed #miniwaffles #foodgawker #sugarrush #cheatmeal #tryitordiet #heresmyfood #thefeedfeed
