The first presidential debate ran on Thursday night with former president Donald Trump and President Joe Biden touching on topics that voters will be taking into consideration for November's election.

Today, both candidates are hitting the road to continue campaigning. Trump's latest rally is being held in Chesapeake, Virginia, which is the state's second most populated city with nearly 250,000 people.

Scripps News' Dan Grossman spoke with a supporter at the rally who said he wants to hear about Trump's plan to handle inflation and immigration.

A Trump staffer says Trump will likely touch on the same points he hammered home last night — the southern border and the economy.

A CNN poll shows regardless of who they will vote for, 67% of respondents believe Trump won the debate and 33% believe Biden won.

Trump's campaign is looking to expand its base in Virginia. In 2016, Trump lost the state to Hillary Clinton by 5 percentage points (49.8% vs 44.4%) and by 10% in 2020 (54.4% vs 44.2%).

According to Trump’s camp, his campaign opened 11 field offices in the state last week to reach more voters.
