Legal cannabis continues to change the modern medicine landscape.

The U.S. Department of Labor estimates the number of legal cannabis workers to grow by 250% by 2028. And currently, Florida ranks 5th in the nation.

One company is experiencing double-digit growth and has immediate openings. 2020 was a holiday season that dealt major shippers unprecedented mail volumes and former Amazon employee Beeno Louis-Charles wanted out.

“I’ve never felt better doing anything else,” said Louis Charles, a MÜV medical cannabis dispensary MedTender. “This is a job that allows me to help the overall quality of life of our patients in South Florida.”

Licensed in 2017, AltMed Florida now has 29 MÜV medical cannabis dispensary locations across Florida. And the company plans to have 40 stores by the end of 2021.

”We’re up to 700 employees in this company now. And I think by the end of 2021 we’ll be at 1,000 to 1,200,” said John Tipton, AltMed Florida and MÜV CEO.

A 2020 jobs report from Leafly shows legal cannabis is beating some of the fastest-growing industries to include nursing and solar photovoltaic installation.

The sunshine state ranks fifth in the nation and Tipton attributes that to a client base age 50 to 70 looking for relief.

“It’s truly patients with ailments — epilepsy, Parkinson's, PTSD, Crohn's disease. Really serious ailments,” Tipton said. ”We’ve seen it help people improve the quality of their own life,” added Jennifer Boose, MÜV retail training and safety manager.

On Dec. 26, MÜV opened a new dispensary in Boynton Beach.

The site is hiring three more MedTenders to assist patients like Daniel Raboni.

”They’re actually talking to me about (the product). And they tell me how much is in it, the percents and everything about it I need to know,” Raboni said.

Additionally, the location in Port Saint Lucie needs a manager, an assistant manager, a MedTender and a delivery driver.

There’s also openings at the Wellington dispensary. “It’s led me down a pretty good path — so far so good,” Louis-Charles said.

You must be at least 21 years of age to work at a MÜV dispensary. For the full list of employment opportunities click here.
