WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The flood of seasonal and part-time employment usually starts after Halloween, but for some industries, more jobs are coming even earlier.

The Fresh Market has about 80 openings right now at stores in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Wellington, Jupiter, Stuart and Vero Beach. The company has seen elevated sales that are only expected to grow when you combine the holiday season and the pandemic.

"Entertaining at home in smaller groups is something that we're going to see more of," Michael Johnson, South Florida regional operations manager of The Fresh Market, said. "We offer unique products that not everyone carries and ready to eat meal solutions. Our stores that are assisting 900 guests a day could go up to 1,800 during our peak weeks."

Stores will hold in-person job interviews Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Positions include part-time deli clerks, seafood and meat clerks, bakery clerks and front-end associates.

Candidates are encouraged to apply online at The Fresh Market's website before attending the hiring event so specific interview times can be scheduled, but walk-ins will be accepted as well. All stores will be following proper safety protocols related to COVID-19 during the interviews, including social distancing and wearing a face covering.
