It’s hard to believe we’re talking about this already, but the holiday season arrives in just a few weeks. Many people will look forward to renewing favorite traditions like making cookies, decorating the tree and filling stockings.
For the kids, this part of the year often means the return of Elf on the Shelf (or possibly his Jewish cousin, Shmelf the Hanukkah Elf). The little ones can’t seem to get enough of finding this little guy around the house each year as he keeps an eye out for behavior that will land a child on Santa’s “Naughty” or “Nice” lists.
Parents, though, can find the Elf on the Shelf stressful as they work to keep up with his adventures and find a new spot to hide him each day. If you’re one of those tired adults who have had enough of this extra chore, allow us to introduce you to Santa’s Lazy Gnome.
Is it OK to say that we think this guy has a major cuteness advantage and a less creepy vibe than his shelf-sitting cousin?
The creators of Santa’s Lazy Gnome worked to keep the magic of Christmas alive for children while giving parents a break during one of the busiest times of the year.
“No hide and seek or silly games to keep this Santa helper around,” the makers of the doll shared online. “Santa sent The Lazy Gnome to help with the Naughty/Nice list. These mysterious friends report to Santa if you’re naughty or nice, even when you’re out of sight.”
Santa’s Lazy Gnome measures 10 inches tall (15 inches if you include his hat) and is the perfect size to fit on the mantle or shelf. He also comes with a choice of a snowflake-pattern hat (seen above) or an adorable argyle hat.
Like Elf of the Shelf, you can order Santa’s Lazy Gnome with an accompanying children’s book that shares the story of this new holiday helper. Or, you can choose to simply have Santa’s Lazy Gnome sent to your home for you to create your own backstory and tradition with.
The set with the book normally sells for $29.99, but LazyGnomes.com currently has it available for $26.99 with free shipping. If you just want the doll, it’s on sale for $13 right now.
