BOCA RATON, Fla. — Florida Atlantic basketball is ranked in The Associated Press top 25 poll for the first time in school history.
The Owls (17-1, 7-0 Conference USA) are ranked No. 24 in the latest poll released Monday.
FAU has won 16 consecutive games, including Monday night's 76-62 victory at Western Kentucky, and is undefeated in C-USA play.
The Owls have only been to the NCAA tournament once — during the 2001-02 season. Their only loss was to Mississippi in November.
"It's obviously a great feeling for our program to be recognized as a top 25 ranked team for the first time in school history," FAU head coach Dusty May said. "I am happy for our university, students and fans who are always incredibly supportive. This recognition is a total credit to our players and their character, unselfishness and love for each other. This is a great honor, but to be honest, the best thing about our group is that they aren't satisfied, and they still want to achieve a whole lot more."
