MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins will be without Tua Tagovailoa for Sunday's game at the winless New York Jets.

Tagovailoa was one of five players listed as inactive before the game at MetLife Stadium. He injured his thumb in practice earlier in the week.

The rookie first-round quarterback is 3-1 as a starter for Miami. He made his NFL debut against the Jets earlier this season.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, who began the season as the starter and replaced Tagovailoa in last weekend's loss at Denver, is likely to start in his absence.

The Dolphins also elevated rookie practice squad quarterback Reid Sinnett to the active roster to serve as Fitzpatrick's backup in his first NFL game.
