PALM HARBOR, Fla. (AP) — Robert Garrigus is the first PGA Tour player to be suspended for abuse of a drug.

The tour announced Friday that Garrigus, whose only PGA Tour victory was at the end of the 2010 season, has been suspended for three months.

Garrigus says on Twitter that he failed a drug test for marijuana. While legal in some states, it is on the banned substance list under the PGA Tour's anti-doping policy. Garrigus has spoken openly about his addictions and spending 30 days in a clinic in 2003 before he made it to the PGA Tour.

He says after nine years of sobriety, he had a relapse and failed a drug test.

Garrigus was playing under conditional status this year after finishing 131st in the FedEx Cup last season.
