WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.-- Young fans at the Asaf Soccer Academy in West Palm Beach took a break from their camp activities to cheer on the U.S Women during their match-up with Spain Monday. Many of the young soccer players said they were excited to see the United States succeed on the world stage.

"I think it's really cool because a lot of people don't always focus on the women's games, they mostly just care about the men's games but it's really cool to see they have an entire event hosted for the women's World Cup," 11-year-old Ashton, a camper at Asaf Soccer Academy said.

Camp Counselor Ashley Labbe said the women served as an inspiration to many players.

"As a player, it's really inspiring to watch a team with so much confidence and courage," Labbe said. "I really think they can go far this World Cup."

The women defeated Spain 2-1 Monday.

The U.S. will face off against host country France in the 2019 World Cup Quarterfinals Friday.
