Tyler Hatfield is an award-winning reporter who joined WPTV in July 2024 as a multimedia journalist covering the Treasure Coast.
Prior to south Florida, Tyler was a morning reporter at WPMT FOX43 in York, Pa. At WPMT, Tyler covered everything from breaking news to state politics. He was also one of the first reporters in Pennsylvania to cover the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore, Md.
Tyler received a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters (PAB) award for his breaking news coverage of the Bird-In-Hand Family Inn explosion in Lancaster, Pa. He also received an Emmy nomination for his morning news coverage.
Tyler studied English literature and history at the University of Delaware (Roll Hens). He later earned his master’s degree at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. While at Columbia, Tyler freelanced for Men’s Health. Before he caught the journalism bug, Tyler was a group fitness instructor in Philadelphia.
Tyler was born and raised in Sussex County, Del. And he’s excited to swap the Delaware beaches for the Florida coast.
