TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- City of Tallahassee debris removal crews are working to clear roads and get linemen into areas with broken power equipment following Hurricane Michael.
Trees and tree limbs are down throughout the city, which is known for beautiful oak trees. 50% of the city has tree coverage, according to Mayor Andrew Gillum.
Crews worked on Old St. Augustine Road Thursday morning to cut up downed trees and move them to the side of the road for collection at a later time.
Power crews are also out throughout the city starting to work on the power grid, which the city said has extensive damage.
While power is being restored, the city has placed generators at major intersections throughout Tallahassee to run traffic lights and crosswalks.
