The NHC said a turn toward the west-northwest at a similar forward speed is expected Wednesday night, with this motion continuing through the rest of the week followed by a turn toward the northwest early next week.
Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is expected to become Tropical Storm Josephine on Thursday.
According to WPTV First Alert Meteorologist Steve Villanueva, the system will interact with strong wind sheer before reaching the Bahamas, and that should start to weaken it.
Villanueva said most of models have the system turning north and staying well east of the Bahamas, with no impacts on our weather in South Florida.
